Updates Regarding Pastor Stokes

Update (March 21, 2016)

Hello Family,

On March 13th, Pastor Stokes celebrated one year of victory. God is good! Pastor has come a long way in his journey of recovery. Please celebrate his life with the Stokes family.

Medical professionals gave a projected recovery time that is broadly used as a gauge for stroke patients’ recovery; however, that timeframe was not etched in stone. Along the journey, I was consistently told by various professionals who worked with him, “Every patient is different.” After hearing that several times, I decided to set myself to go on the journey with him for the long haul. God is guiding this journey and I am resting in His ability to manifest full recovery in our pastor.

If you saw him when he attended service, then you have experienced firsthand the miraculous power of God working on pastor’s behalf. I am asking you to hold on to your expectation.  We are the believers and God is the Healer.

Pastor recognizes everyone and he is very active. When he hears about someone who has a health condition, he bows his head and prays in the Spirit.  Recently, he prayed with me as we ministered the infilling of the Holy Spirit to our son Timothy.  Pastor laid hands on him and our son was filled.  He is so alert that he directs me as I drive, letting me know where to turn and how to proceed.  His physical therapist was impressed by Pastor’s physical strength and endurance during his workout and he has gained increasing independence. These examples are all signs of his progress, awareness and demonstrated ability to act upon what he hears and knows. It’s amazing to watch.

Please remember that every person’s recovery is individual and time is not a foe but an ally.  Thank you for continuing to stand in faith with our family as we walk with pastor on the road to full recovery.

Love,

Pastor Tanya

Update (November 22, 2015)

Dear Family and Friends,

Friday, March 13, 2015, Timothy R. Stokes, Senior Pastor of Family Worship Center Church International, suffered a severe stroke.  Pastor Stokes has been an influential leader in this community.  He has served on various boards, helping to facilitate change in the city of Flint.  He created “Hope for The Holidays,” an initiative that helps underprivileged families by providing winter outerwear, food and toys during the holiday season. Pastor Timothy R. Stokes implemented a mentoring program to help children advance their academic studies at a Flint elementary school.  He has mentored several pastors within the region and has been a faithful pillar in the city.

The Family Worship Center Church International Leadership Team is honored to have Pastor Stokes as our senior leader.  As he has exhibited the grace and love of Christ toward us, our desire is to grace him with God’s love.  On Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 7 p.m., our church will host a benefit fundraiser in honor of Pastor Stokes.

The fundraiser is a musical Christian stage play entitled, “Family Matters.”  The musical will be held at Family Worship Center Church, 3280 N. Linden Road, Flint, MI.  Admission is free.  Our special guest is Dana Taylor from Reno, Nevada.  During the intermission, a freewill offering will be raised in his honor. If you are unable to attend and would like to contribute, please click here and list “Benefit for Pastor Stokes” in the notes section.  Please help us honor our Senior Pastor Timothy R. Stokes, who has positively impacted thousands of lives in this region for more than 24 years.  Thank you.

Update on Pastor Stokes (October 15, 2015)

Greetings to All;

Pastor Stokes has been home recovering for the last two months. He is continuing to make progress in his journey of recovery.  Currently he is undergoing out-patient therapy three days a week.  Please continue to pray that the muscles in his right leg would be strengthened so that he can fully put his weight on it, which would enable him to walk without assistance.  Also pray for his right arm to be restored.  I’m told that it may take up to a year for the movement to return.  He’s also in speech therapy with a therapist who has 30 years of neuro experience.  The speech therapist said the goal is to rebuild aspects of language that was affected by the stroke so that fluency of speech would return. Every therapist I have spoken with informs me that each stroke patient is different in terms of recovery.  This is why I am not able to report an exact timeframe for his recovery.  I am going on the journey of recovery with him and ask that you would do the same.  I am encouraged by how far he has come and was told by the doctor at rehab facility that his recovery is very significant.  I trust that God will do a complete work of healing.  My faith is strong and I believe that Pastor Stokes in God’s hands. Please continue to pray with me for full recovery.

Love,

Pastor Tanya

Update on Pastor Stokes (June 30, 2015)

Pastor Stokes underwent surgery today to put his skull cap back on as planned by the neurosurgeon.  The procedure was a success.  He is stable and resting.  From my perspective, this completes a phase of his recovery.  Thank you for your support in prayer and fasting.  I am grateful for everything that you have done to express your love to Pastor Stokes and our family.  May God continue to pour out His blessings on your life as you position yourself to be a blessing.
Love,
Pastor Tanya

Update on Pastor Stokes (May 18, 2015)

Pastor Stokes has received a good prognosis from the doctor, who said that pastor is recovering remarkably well.  It’s just a matter of time!!  The doctor said that perhaps God would grant a speedy recovery because he believes in miracles.  Pastor has since been progressing in communication and speech therapy, as well as taken his first steps with the assistance of the trainer.  I am witnessing daily progress and I’m locked into faith concerning full recovery!  Please continue to confess that daily in prayer!  Thank you for your love and support.

Love,

Pastor Tanya C. Stokes

Update Regarding Pastor Timothy R. Stokes (March 29, 2015)

Dear FWCCi Family;

Rejoice in The Lord and again I say rejoice. For He is great and greatly to be praised!

It’s been two weeks since pastors’ stroke and I stand encouraged by the progress he has made. The doctor says that he is doing good, in fact one day she described him as progressing in “leaps and bounds!” She is eager to get him into rehab. In fact, they have already begun some physical and speech therapy.
What encouraged me the most was his cognition skills as he responded to the speech therapist. He was able to recognize objects and understand concepts. She told me that many patients can’t make that connection. She felt that his progress from two days prior was “huge.” He even waved goodbye to her. I know his mind is still sharp. That brings me great comfort.

Secondly, the physical therapist said pastor was helping them as they exercised him Friday. That’s encouraging because it demonstrates his will to join in the fight with us! Remember, we walk by faith and not by sight.

In this season, I’m not looking to entertain public opinion, but continuing to confess what I expect– full recovery!  I must admit that we have a journey ahead of us, I’m not in denial of that, but we have been trained by pastor to depend on God! I believe that we can do that together as a family! I look forward to seeing you soon!

Much love,
Tanya C. Stokes

Update Regarding Pastor Timothy R. Stokes  (March 22, 2015)

Dear Family,

Pastor is recovering! He recognized his children and me and is responding to commands!  We are now believing God that he will breathe on his own.

I told him that he has carried us all of these years…now we are going to carry him! I also told him that we are good so there is no need for him to worry about anything. Our children are carrying on in exercising our family prayer time and devotions as well as providing emotional support for one another.

I expressed to him that he is well loved. I’m overwhelmed by the love of Family Worship Center Church International, and our many friends throughout the nation who have responded. We are truly family!

Family…Stick together! Continue to fight the good fight of faith with me!

Hello Family, Pastor Stokes has been doing well since his surgery on Saturday, March 14th.  His vitals are good.  The medical professionals said that he is moving in the right direction and he is responding well to verbal commands.  Thank you for your continued prayers as we stand together believing for God’s complete restoration of health for our senior pastor.  God is able!!

Letter from Pastor Tanya Stokes (March 15, 2015)

We are Family Worship Center Church.  Family is our first name and we want to make sure that we communicate to you as members of our family concerning the head of our family.

On Friday evening, March 13th my husband and our Pastor, Timothy R Stokes, experienced a stroke caused by a blood clot. He was aware of his surroundings but is experiencing some movement restrictions on one side of his body.  He did undergo surgery Saturday evening (March 14th) to relieve pressure on his brain and is expected to undergo rehabilitative therapy.

But fear not, our God is greater,  and our pastor is strong in the Lord.  He pastors a victorious people whose faith will not fail him, his family, or this ministry.  Our confession as a ministry is that our pastor is completely healed, restored and whole. While we do not deny the difficulty of the situation, we know that His grace is sufficient. To support his healing process we also cannot allow visitors at this time.  We need your prayers and faith support more than anything.

We ask that you would please believe with us, the following:

That no weapon formed against our Pastor shall prosper;

That every organ, every tissue, every cell every nerve and every bone in his body lines up with the Word of the living God that says by Jesus’ stripes he is healed;

That he is capable of continuing his assignment to pastor this congregation that he loves so much.

In the same spirit in which we have faced every challenge in the past, we go forth in full assurance of faith.  We love you and appreciate your undergirding us as we stand in faith together.  Family Worship Center Church, let us unite with one voice declaring victory for our senior pastor, Timothy R. Stokes.

With Love,

Pastor Tanya Stokes
